I am an Arizona native and I currently live in Gilbert, AZ with my husband and four-year-old daughter. I graduated from Arizona State University in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Sociology and Anthropology. Following graduation, I spent four years in the Social Work field working with families involved with the Department of Child Safety. While I loved the work, I always knew something was missing. I was active as a child participating in sports such as volleyball, dance, cheerleading, track and I even took two years of weight training in high school; however, my love for fitness transpired after I became a mother. Going to the gym and giving myself “me time” became therapeutic. Being a first-time mother while working a full-time job was difficult, I needed an outlet and time to myself where I could focus on something other than diaper changes, nap times, feedings and work. The gym was something I looked forward to everyday because it made me feel great and I was also making myself a priority (I’m a huge fan of self-care.) I quickly became the “gym rat” to my family and friends and I enjoyed sharing my knowledge. I decided to compete in my first NPC competition in the bikini division in November of 2014. Since then, I have competed in 3 more regional shows and 5 national shows. To say I love the stage and contest prep is an understatement! It has become my passion!
Since I started competing, I also became quite the “clean eater”. I loved creating new recipes, making healthy meals for my family and learning about macronutrients. In November of 2015, my husband and I opened our own meal prep company called FitChoice Foods and we’ve had great success. I love that I can impact someone’s life so greatly by providing them with nutritious food and showing them that healthy food does not have to be boring.
I enjoy living a busy, but healthy and active lifestyle. Between being a mom, wife, business owner, coach and competitor, I know first-hand that it can be difficult to juggle all of life’s demands. However, I also know how rewarding it is to wear so many hats. My goal is to show other women and mothers out there that your health and wellness should be a top priority and it can be done with dedication, perseverance and a little guidance.
